A simple after-ride cleaning routine

Keep the next ride inviting with a few thoughtful minutes of care.
Start gently
Let the bike cool if needed and follow its cleaning instructions. Use a gentle approach to remove loose dirt before working on stubborn grime. Avoid forcing water into bearings, electrical connections or other sensitive areas. Cleaning is also a chance to notice damage that was hidden during the ride.
Keep braking surfaces clean
Use appropriate products for each component and keep chain lubricant away from discs, pads and rim braking surfaces. Use separate clean cloths when necessary. If you think a braking surface has been contaminated, have it assessed before riding.
Put it away ready
Dry the bike, lubricate the chain as recommended and wipe away excess product. Check for loose accessories and anything that needs professional attention. Store the bike securely, and follow the battery manufacturer’s storage instructions for electric models. Leave yourself a note about any issue so it is not forgotten before the next ride.
